My grandson asked why I always put his library book in his backpack but it's still on the kitchen counter when we get to school
I told him Grandma has a very organized system.
I put the book in the backpack the night before. Then I take it out to double-check the due date. Then I set it on the counter so I remember to put it back in.
Then we leave.
Punchline
The system works perfectly—right up until the part where we actually need the book.
