Kitchen

Why do the scissors live in the junk drawer but I cut open every Amazon box with a butter knife?

I keep a perfectly good pair of kitchen shears in the junk drawer—right next to the takeout menus, the rubber bands that came off broccoli stalks in 2019, and a single AA battery of unknown vintage.

But when a package arrives? I'm prying at the tape with whatever's closest: a butter knife, a house key, my thumbnail, sometimes just brute force and optimism.

Punchline

The scissors are in there. I know they are. But opening that drawer means confronting three years of "I'll deal with this later," and honestly, the butter knife's right here.
